Little London Bloomers is a working duo of Mother (Sally) and daughter (Scarlett). With an immense love of traditional and beautiful children's clothes and with 6 grandchildren (the seventh due Christmas 2018) Sally, who grew up in an era when needlework was a compulsory subject at school, continued with the subject and since then has had many years experience and training with sewing; maintaining it as a hobby throughout the years. With so many grandchildren, she began to create bespoke outfits for each, experimenting with styles, linings and fit. Scarlett, Sally's eldest daughter had her first baby, Hunter, in Summer 2017 and while on maternity leave, inspired and already with a self-taught sewing proficiency, Scarlett spent her time learning from Sally how to make the perfect bloomer.
"Every week there was a different bloomer or collared shirt being made for Hunter and by the time he was 6 months old, his handmade clothing collection was enormous! There was nothing that we found on the market that matched the quality and design, not to mention the personal touch and effort that went into making each pair. We really felt that the bloomers were an ideal mix of traditional style, fused with a fit so perfect and practical for the modern-day baby.”
It was when requests flooded in from family and friends and when even complete strangers on the street or in shops would ask where they were from, that the idea to turn a hobby into something more came about and Little London Bloomers was born!
